GRAFFITI DISCO PARTY~ TEEN PARTY

It is fun to celebrate becoming a teenager, but parents are often unsure how to bridge the gap between cute and cool when it comes to their teens' parties.  Clair, of Calamity Cakes in Australia, shares her son's 13th birthday party and says that she let her son and his friends be her guide!  Clair says, "the brief from the boys was: must be fun, funky and have cool music and a cool venue". Clair hired a groovy local cafe and three 15-year-old dj's to get the party started.  Clair added a small dessert table for the 60 guests to get their "sweet fix"- and she used themes her son and his friends liked...music, graffiti walls, and longboarding.

DISCO PARTY

A fashionable and sophisticated birthday girl requested a 70's tie-dye party with her friends, and her mom Deanna delivered in style!  With a nod to 70's fashion, a Missoni-inspired chevron print was the focus of the party printables designed by Deanna (Mirabelle Creations) and was carried throughout the design of the party.  Disco balls, pet rocks, tie-dyed shirts, and beautiful desserts will have you looking for your bell-bottoms and singing, "... Night fever, night fever..."

PARTY LIKE A ROCKSTAR

Disco balls, boas, push pop microphones, ...I was recently asked to help add some fun and girlie details to a Rockstar Party, and I loved finding ways to incorporate rockin' details while keeping the party sweet enough for a five year old!  Pink and lavender were the requested colors- I added a touch of silver, a Pop Star Soda Bar and lots of fun with lights!

The backdrop was made using an art canvas.  I drew a sketch of my design on the back, and then I punched holes in the canvas with a nail.  Next, I  put a string of clear lights through the holes as I went.  Secure each light with a Glue Dot.  I added paper tissue poms using Glue Dots to secure on front. Glue Dots are available by the box at craft stores.

Disco balls were strung with pink, lavender, and purple ribbons...and used to decorate the serving tables and the Pop Star Soda Bar backdrop.
